As the world's leading golfers tee off at Oak Hill for the USPGA Championship, the 2nd Major of the year, it's worth keeping an eye on Tony Finau's footwear.
Finau - a six time winner on the PGA Tour - is a self-confessed sneakerhead and is regularly seen walking the course in some of the most iconic sneaker styles that have been adapted to become a trend-setting golf shoe.
Whilst appearing on the Golf.com Fully Equipped Podcast in 2021, he said:
"I just got the Air Jordan, or the Jordan elevens golf shoes, and then just the fives. So I was excited about that and I went to Jordan’s place just a couple of months ago and, and was able to buy a couple of those. But you know, as far as the regular shoe, I got really almost every pair from the threes to the elevens.”
It’s pretty extensive [referring to his sneaker collection] I’ve got the new LeBrons, Kyries, Kobes, so again, I’m a big basketball guy too. I’ve got a lot of those in the collection, and obviously, all the Kobes won’t be going anywhere, anytime soon. So I’m happy I got most most of those pairs,”
Only last month Finau was spotted wearing the Air Jordan 1 Low G Golf in the White/Noble Green/Pollen/Black colourway on his way to lifting the Mexican Open by three strokes on -24.
Take a look at some of the other kicks Finau has worn on the course below & let's hope he has something special for us at the PGA this week.
