Ultra-Rare 1990s Apple Sneakers Now on Sale for $50,000

Sotheby's auction house is offering a rare pair of Apple trainers for sale at an impressive price of $50,000 (£38,969).  

These unique shoes were originally custom-made for Apple employees during the 1990s and were given away as a special conference gift. 

What makes these sneakers even more special is that they have never been made available to the general public before. Featuring a mostly white leather upper, the standout feature is the vintage rainbow Apple logo, which appears on the tongue and beside the laces, making them highly desirable according to Sotheby's.

Sotheby's considers these trainers to be "one of the most obscure in existence," emphasizing their rarity and significant value in the resale market. Although they are described as "new in the box," it's worth noting that there are some imperfections, such as yellowing around the midsoles. Nonetheless, collectors and Apple enthusiasts alike will likely be eager to add these coveted sneakers to their collections. 

The pair feature an air cushioning window in the heel and are a US size 10.5, European size 41 or UK 8.5. In the box there is also an alternative pair of red laces. 

Although Apple is famed for its gadgets and innovations, on occasion tech fans have been able to purchase clothing and accessories from the brand. 

There was an Apple collection clothing line which incorporated the rainbow logo and Macintosh computer imagery - it included T-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts and hats. 

It was intended to promote the Apple brand and create a sense of community - however, at the time it was not a major success and was discontinued.
