'AIR' Set To Hit Cinemas Worldwide
It's one of the most hotly anticipated films to hit the big screen for years, not just for movie fans but for sneakerheads worldwide 'AIR' will look back at the historical partnership between a then rookie Michael Jordan & Nike.
The movie will mostly look at the story of how Nike’s fledgling basketball division - which revolutionized the world of sports and contemporary culture with the Air Jordan brand - became one of the biggest selling brand partnerships of all-time, with Jordan having reportedly made over $1.3 billion.
The story follows the career-defining gamble of an unconventional team with everything on the line, the uncompromising vision of a mother who knows the worth of her son’s immense talent, and the basketball phenom who would become the greatest of all-time.
Some of the biggest names in Hollywood take on the leading roles including; Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Jason Bateman, Viola Davis, Chris Tucker, Marlon Wayans and Chris Messina.
Ben Affleck stars as Nike founder Phil Knight, whilst Viola plays Jordan's mother Deloris. There is nobody playing Jordan himself.
The Hollywood reporter recently reported that:
"Jordan will be a mythic figure hovering above the movie and never seen, even as Vaccaro tries to reach him by gaining access to those close to him,"
Whilst AS Screen Rant said:
"The purpose of leaving Jordan out of the film is to build an element of mystique around the legendary basketball talent. It is also to help keep the focus on Vaccaro, Knight and Nike."
The film will hit cinemas on 5th April.
